On any given week-end, you may run into David and Pat Harvey, the owners of The Hardware. All have the knowledge and know-how to help you with any special order that you may be needing us to get for you.

History

The business originally began around 1890 by Wallace H. Campbell and Frank L. Martin and was named Campbell and Martin. The building was built at that time. Later, the business name was changed to Campbell, Martin, and Albee, and it changed again to Campbell and Greeley.

In 1919, the firm became the largest plumbing and heating business in the upper valley. Furniture and household goods were added, as was a funeral parlor with the services of funeral directors. There was a tin shop with George Randall, tinsmith. Parts of the building were rented for Rochester Town Office, the Post Office, a meat market, barber shop, apartments, etc.

All the owners of the business had been Campbell relatives until 1961, when it was sold to Edward Sargent. Later it was owned by Steve and Tena Sargent and followed by Saul and Dorothy Glogover. In 2003, the property and business was purchased by Marvin and Barbara Harvey, and now sold to Dave and Pat Harvey in 2016.
